Inner Fire Yoga’s studio space was custom-built according to the US Green Building Council’s LEED’s guidelines.
- Highly efficient radiant heating system utilizes a combination of gas radiant heat and electric radiant heat throughout.
- Two highly efficient energy recovery ventilators recycle the heat from the classroom and pumps it back into the studio.
- Sustainable cork flooring.
- Reused and reclaimed building materials were integrated throughout the studio including fluorescent and can lighting, doors, frames, and many of the windows.
- Predominantly fluorescent low-wattage lighting throughout the space.
- Green eco-friendly carpeting saving us from toxic glue and volatile organic compounds.
- Low flow toilets and showers
- Low VOC paints.
Other ways Inner Fire Yoga® has “gone green” in its operations:
- As a part of participating in MG&E’s Green Power Tomorrow program (see below), Inner Fire Yoga electively purchases wind power to offset our carbon footprint on a monthly basis.
- Using recycled paper for printing
- Encouraging the use of refillable water bottles rather than disposable plastic water bottles. We offer free filtered water, we sell BPE-free Nalgene logo water bottles, and the price of water in disposable plastic bottles has been increased to $2 to discourage their purchase
- Offering non-toxic and organic products in our retail store such as ECO-MATS (we no longer sell the PVC yoga mats), soy-based aromatherapy candles, organic yoga clothing, organic whole-food energy bars.
- Using bio-degradable and non-toxic cleaning and laundering soaps.
